My guess is it is playing via mpg123, a console based mp3 player. I
don't know how it works but at least you know what to look for. You can
see if it's the culprit using top or gtop. Kill that process, if the
audio stops playing then you know what caused it.

Got a question.
I'm using Pan for newsgroups now. When I open a binary file (mp3) it
starts
playing.....but without an actual application running on the
desktop......how
do I get it to stop if I don't want to hear the entire song?
