[brluglist] Unannounced Cox network changes...??

Did that... pulled in my static settings...

Another thing I noticed is on the win side, the DHCP lease period is exactly
24 hours where it had been longer on previous occasions.

My IP or DNS servers have not changed since the upgrade.

I'm at a loss...

One way to find out.......

Make note of the settings provided by DHCP (dns, gateway, and ip).
Now change your linux from being dchp to a static setup, using the settings
from cox.
(keep in mind, ip's very rarely change on cox to date)
This should get the linux side back up and running, at least utill the ip
address changes on your account.

I dunno.... Like I said, cable was working fine over here on both sides,
now dhcp is failing on the linux side only. Note that this is the SAME
machine running win98/mandrake8.0....

Linux seems to be running fine on cable here (didn't want to say cox,
because it just didn't sound right...) But I also have a router in between
me and it....
Could be something about their DHCP and your flavor linux.... Who knows
these daze...

OK folks, do you know what's up? I have a dual boot system that uses cox
internet service. They're network configurations were essentially the same
and were the cox reccommended settings (for windoze). I've had both
systems ticking along nicely, until tonight. The Linux networking is down
over here while windows is up. I can only guess that an unnannounced
configuration change has occurred... Anybody knows what gives ? Thanks,
Craig
